My career in roofing began in 1978, predominately on new build developments. In 1987, although continuing with the new builds, I began to branch out into domestic roofing. This included re-roofs, extensions, repairs and leak investigation. Avoid Wayne from Blackwell Roofing. He quoted £380 based on photos, then came to view the job from the ground—no proper inspection. He later climbed a ladder with no safety gear, started tearing down fascia, then suddenly claimed the job was £1,600. When I asked him to stop, he became aggressive, shouting and throwing tools and wood down dangerously. I felt threatened and unsafe in my own home. Totally unprofessional, dishonest, and intimidating. Do not hire him.

Main task of laying wood was top class. Reasons for the mixed review: - As part of cost, was promised beading that would colour match the wood, but he turned up with different colour beading and it was left to me to varnish it - door needed to be trimmed because the wooden floor was at a raised height - was cut incorrectly. He promised to return and fix the door and lay a bridge to the carpeted hallway if I paid him in full which I did. Despite me following up, he never returned which I find dishonest.
